Executive Director

Curtis Brown
Curtis joined Brighton in 2010 as Executive Director, bringing 30 years of nonprofit management experience. He has led the development of multiple social enterprises and trained over 500 nonprofits in innovative, entrepreneurial practices. His writing on nonprofit, economic, and social justice issues has reached over 10,000 readers.
Curtis holds an MBA in Community Economics from Eastern University and actively contributes to efforts that build community wealth, including Community Investment Trusts and Regulation Crowdfunding. A Garfield High alum, he lives in South Seattle with his wife Lori and is a proud parent of two Cleveland and Franklin High graduates.
Chief Operating Officer

Estrada Colón
Estrada is the Chief Operating Officer of Brighton Communities, leading operations, systems, and community engagement for housing initiatives in Seattle. With over 30 years of leadership across corporate, nonprofit, and community sectors, she has held senior roles at Microsoft and the YMCA of Greater Seattle.
At Microsoft, she spent two decades in global management and co-invented a U.S. patent for Optical DNA. At the YMCA, she expanded services and built award-winning programs. Estrada serves as Vice President of Puget Sound WildCare and volunteers as a CYO volleyball coach. She has been recognized by Microsoft, Honeywell, and the Seattle Southside Chamber.
Community Manager

NyShae Breland
NyShae is a dedicated professional with over 7 years of experience in the non-profit sector, specializing in administration, system building, and program coordination. Currently at Brighton Communities, she plays a key role in supporting community initiatives and operations. With also telling the story of how Brighton Communities has begun and where it is going.
NyShae remains actively involved in youth development, helping run a youth sports program and contributing to the Teen Summer Musical with Acts on Stage and Langston Hughes, reflecting her ongoing commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities.
Accounting

L. Diana Robinson
With over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Diana has provided comprehensive support in administration, development, databases, programs, and bookkeeping. She also brings more than 6 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, focusing on accounts receivable and inventory management.
In addition, Diana has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, specializing in commercial lending support. Her diverse background reflects a strong commitment to operational excellence, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. She thrives in mission-driven environments and is passionate about contributing to organizations that make a meaningful impact.
Maintenance Tech

Gidafu Adugna
Gidafu has been with Brighton Communities for over 4 years, serving as a skilled Maintenance Technician. He is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall condition of Brighton’s properties, responding to repair needs and ensuring systems are running smoothly. In addition to his maintenance work, Gidafu manages inventory and supports the operations team with day-to-day logistics.
Known for his reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, he plays a vital role in creating safe, welcoming spaces for residents. His dedication and problem-solving skills make him a valued member of the Brighton team and a trusted presence in the community.
Senior Maintenance Tech

Mario Siu Chang
Mario has been a cornerstone of Brighton Communities for over 40 years, serving as a dedicated Maintenance Technician. His decades of service reflect not only his deep knowledge and skill, but also his unwavering commitment to the community. Mario ensures that Brighton’s properties are safe, functional, and well-maintained, responding to repairs with care and efficiency. Beyond his technical expertise,
Mario has built lasting relationships with residents and staff, becoming a dependable and familiar presence. His long-standing service has had a profound impact, helping to create a sense of stability, continuity, and pride throughout the community he has supported for generations.
Custodian

Banjougou Camara
Camara has been a dedicated custodian at Brighton Communities for nearly 5 years, working tirelessly to ensure the community remains clean, safe, and welcoming for all residents. His attention to detail and strong work ethic shine through in every task he undertakes, from daily cleaning to maintaining common areas.
Camara’s commitment to creating a comfortable and pleasant environment plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of pride and belonging within the community. His dependable presence and hard work make a significant difference in the quality of life at Brighton, earning him the respect and appreciation of both residents and staff alike.
